From my personal collection. Been saving for this “4th quarter”. I figure it is time to share this Mike Nesmith song with those who may want a little piece of NGDB history. The 1969 record was a single TWICE, as it got a lot of play the first time out, but not enough sales to keep it moving up. Radio people ‘convinced’ us after that first release to “put it out again!”, so we did.

Shelly’s did real well both times, and more people called in with requests. But, people could NOT buy it. They would ask “ I think it is Tell Me, or You Settle Down and Stay with the Boy that Loves You?.” Mike had titled the song, and NOT put the title anywhere in the song! We did not (nor did the record company) realize that… until it was too late.

It was a good soundcheck song; instruments would come in one at a time until the middle. Without soundchecks, it was good to open with for the same reason: get the banjo and harmonica, then voice 1, then two voices, bass, guitars, drums. We called it then Some of Sound Check’s Blues.

Starting with LOUD banjo (thank you, Bill!), and J.F.’s harp chunking along with me … a real ‘Dirt Band’ sound it is!

Limited quantity.. I have about 22 of them (well, I am saving a few for me!).

Signed, perfect condition.
